Music is an important value that has the characteristics of an identity identified with the unique culture of each region. In this context, the Department of Turkish Music considers it important in terms of preserving modal music, transferring it to future generations and not losing the essence of these values with popular culture. The aim of the Department of Turkish Music is to raise generations that preserve the authentic form of makam music and to educate them as maqam performers to have knowledge of Western music. The ultimate aim is to raise individuals who can synthesize both Western and Turkish Music knowledge.
